Kobi Signs & Stripes is a professional pavement marking CAD software for efficient and precise creation of road markings directly in Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or BricsCAD.
Instead of relying on static blocks and manual linework, you can work with intelligent marking objects that remain consistent when alignments, layouts, or surface models change. This approach significantly reduces rework and eliminates many common drafting errors.
Why Engineers choose Kobi Signs & Stripes
- Works directly in Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and BricsCAD
- Supports national standards with extensive traffic signs library
- Easy to edit and create new traffic signs and road markings
- Reduce errors by automatically generating reports
- Fully editable 3D projections for visualizations
- Intuitive interface, that doesn’t require extensive training
Kobi Signs & Stripes includes a predefined library of CAD road sign blocks compliant with national standards, such as the MUTCD and European regulations (Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania, with more coming soon). You can insert signs and markings from standardized libraries or create your own custom definitions.
All elements can be accurately projected onto TIN surface models. This improves design accuracy, enables realistic visualization, and allows automatic report generation directly from the model.
Kobi Signs & Stripes allows you to work faster while maintaining full control over accuracy, and design quality.
Create Road Markings in CAD with Ease
As a modern traffic signs and road marking solution, Kobi Signs & Stripes supports multiple types of road markings. You can insert predefined markings, edit existing ones, or create completely new custom markings to match local standards and project requirements.
When alignments or layouts change, you can rebuild geometry with a single click. The same commands handle creation and editing, letting you update geometry, parameters, and individual elements instantly as design evolves. This flexibility is especially valuable in projects with frequent revisions, where traditional block-based markings often lead to inconsistencies and rework.
Project Road Markings onto Surfaces with a Single Click
Kobi Signs & Stripes enables line, lane, area, and cross markings to be projected directly onto road surfaces, generating highly accurate 3D meshes. By setting a minimal distance between the marking and the surface, the resulting geometry precisely follows the real road shape, including superelevation and vertical curvature.
For engineers working in 3D environments or visualization workflows, this eliminates common problems caused by flat or incorrectly projected markings. The result is a reliable 3D representation suitable for documentation, visualization, and technical review.

Mid-Ordinate Distance for Controlled Precision
The mid-ordinate distance defines the geometric tolerance used when approximating curved elements with linear segments. It represents the perpendicular distance between the midpoint of an arc and the chord connecting the arc’s endpoints, and directly controls the maximum allowable deviation between the true curve and its linear approximation.
By adjusting the mid-ordinate distance, you can control how curved markings are generated. Smaller values produce a higher number of shorter segments, resulting in smoother curves and high-fidelity 3D geometry, while larger values reduce segment count for lighter models. This makes it possible to balance model performance and geometric accuracy depending on project phase and output requirements.
The mid-ordinate distance can be set directly in the Settings section of the dialog, ensuring that road markings accurately conform to complex road surfaces while remaining suitable for both detailed design and visualization.

Create Line, Lane, Area, and Cross Markings in Seconds
Manual drafting of road markings can easily take 30 minutes or more. With Kobi Signs & Stripes this time can be cut down to just seconds.
This is approach is especially useful for road markings with rounded edges, such as area markings located in curves, where the arc elements define the borders instead of straight lines.
In a traditional CAD workflow, such geometry requires extensive manual editing: drawing individual stripes, trimming, offsetting, and adjusting curved boundaries. With Kobi Signs & Stripes, you can simply select a closed polyline, choose a template and the software will automatically generate the area marking with defined properties.
All road markings remain fully editable and consistent with the road geometry.
The result is a clean and consistent marking, generated automatically in both 2D and 3D and accurately following curved road geometry and surface projection. For you, this means less drafting, fewer corrections and more time for design decisions.

Automatic Marking Reports
Creating accurate pavement marking reports manually is time-consuming and prone to errors, especially when designs change.
With the Markings Report tool, which you can find under the Kobi Signs & Stripes ribbon, you can generate reports directly from the model. Simply select the marking types, define the parameters, and place the report in the drawing. The report includes marking code, name, schematic preview, length, width, painted length, and start and end stationing.
By extracting data directly from CAD geometry, the software keeps reports fully aligned with the design. To update the report, simply click Update Markings Report.
There is no need for separate spreadsheets or manual quantity take-offs. Documentation and project handover become faster, accurate, and reliable.
