# Insert Sign Holder
Command Description
The Insert Sign Holder command inserts a sign holder and attaches a traffic sign to it. Sign holders are typically placed relative to linear reference objects, such as Polylines, Alignments,or Feature Lines.
When a reference object is selected, the sign holder can be positioned using station and offset values, and its side relative to the reference object can be defined. In this case, the sign parameters follow the geometry of the selected reference object.
Alternatively, the sign holder can be inserted without a reference object.
When inserted independently, station, offset and other reference-based parameters are not defined and remain empty.
Traffic signs can be created in 2D view, Section view, or 3D view. In 3D view, signs can also be projected onto a selected surface. You can also create and manage custom traffic sign libraries. The procedure for creating custom libraries is described in this section.
To insert new Sign Holder
- Click Kobi Signs and Stripes tab > Traffic Signs panel > Insert Sign Holder

Select the appropriate Traffic Sign under the desired Group.
Define the Sign Holder and Sign parameters. See the description of the Insert Sign Holder dialog below.
Select a reference object (Polyline, Alignment or Feature Line) to align the sign to road geometry. When aligned, the sign parameters are driven by the road geometry.
Note: When a polyline is selected, the command line prompts you to enter the starting station in the next step. When an alignment is selected, station equations are taken into account automatically.
Or choose [None] to insert traffic sign without being aligned to a reference object.
Specify sign insertion point in a drawing
6.1 Or choose [Station]
- The Enter Location dialog opens:

Enter the Station for the new traffic sign.
Enter the Offset for the new traffic sign.
Locks the sign to the specified station, allowing you to modify the offset without changing the station.
Locks the sign to the specified offset, allowing you to modify the station without changing the offset.
Pick the sign location in a drawing. If station is locked, you can modify only the offset. If offset is locked, you can modify only the station.
6.2 Or choose [Reference]
Pick a reference point on the alignment.
Enter the distance to add to or subtract from the reference point.
Enter the offset from the alignment.
- Specify the sign rotation angle.
- Or press Enter to use the default sign angle, which is perpendicular to the alignment.
